Biodata photo tips: a good photo with just a phone
How to take a clear, natural biodata photo at home with a phone: light, background, clothes and framing.

You don't need a studio. A phone, a window and five minutes are enough for a good biodata photo.
Light: face the window
Stand facing a window during the day. Soft daylight is kinder than any lamp or flash. Avoid standing with the window behind you.
Background: plain and tidy
A plain wall or a simple curtain works best. Move clutter out of the frame.
Framing: head and shoulders
Hold the phone at eye level, about an arm's length away, or ask someone to take it. Frame from mid-chest up, with a little space above the head. Our crop tool will fit it to the biodata.
Clothes: simple and comfortable
Solid colours photograph better than busy prints. Wear what you would wear to meet a family for the first time.
- Recent photo (within the last year) - Natural smile, eyes to the camera - No sunglasses, filters or heavy editing - Only you in the frame
How many photos?
One is enough for the biodata. You can add up to three if you'd like a full-length photo as well.
Privacy
Your photos are stored privately and appear only on your biodata. They are not shown to anyone else.
