The first meeting is not an interview. It's two people (and often two families) finding out whether they'd like to talk more. Good questions are open, respectful and about real life.
About everyday life
- What does a normal weekday look like for you?
- How do you like to spend a free Sunday?
- What are you looking forward to in the next few years?
About work and ambitions
- What do you enjoy most about your work?
- Do you see yourself staying in this city, or moving?
- How do you feel about both partners working?
About family
- How involved is your family in day-to-day decisions?
- Would you like to live with parents, near them or on your own?
- What traditions matter most to your family?
About money and responsibilities
- How do you like to manage savings and spending?
- Are there family responsibilities you'd like me to know about?
About values
- What does a good marriage look like to you?
- How do you usually handle disagreements?
For parents
Give the two people some time to talk on their own. Keep your own questions to family matters, and avoid questions about looks, salary details or dowry. They spoil good beginnings.
Our compatibility report also suggests a short set of respectful questions based on both biodatas.
