Privacy notice

Version 2026-10-25. This notice explains, in plain words, how Rishta Aaya (rishtaaya.in) handles your personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the DPDP Rules, 2025.

Who we are

Rishta Aaya is run by (to be added), (to be added). We help families make marriage biodatas and check compatibility. We are not a matchmaking site. We never show your biodata to strangers, suggest matches or send proposals.

What we collect

• Your biodata details: what you type or upload, such as name, date, time and place of birth, education, work, family details, photos and contact details. Caste, gotra, income and complexion are always optional.
• Your login: your email address, or your name and email from Google if you choose to log in with Google.
• The other family's details (only if you buy a compatibility report): the details you enter or upload for them.
• Payments: the order, amount and the payment reference from our payment partner. We never see or store your UPI PIN, card or bank details.
• Basic technical data: needed to keep the site secure and to help you, such as when and how you logged in, and which files you downloaded. We do not store your IP address with these records, and we do not use advertising trackers.

If you make a biodata without logging in, it stays only on your phone until you log in.

Why we use it

We use your data only for the purposes you agreed to, each asked for separately:

1. Making your biodata: storing it, showing previews, creating PDFs and images, and the private link if you turn it on.
2. Compatibility reports: calculating kundli matching and writing a plain-language explanation.
3. Tips and offers (optional): occasional messages. You can say no and still use everything.

Caste, gotra, income and complexion are never used for analytics or advertising.

Who we share it with

Only with service providers who work for us, under contract, and only what each needs:

• Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting)
• Google (only if you choose to log in with Google)
• Razorpay (UPI payments, when used; direct UPI payments go straight to our bank account)
• Prokerala (astrology calculations, birth details only)
• Anthropic (AI explanations in reports; we never send phone numbers or addresses)
• Resend (login codes and emails)

Some of these providers may process data outside India. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

• Your biodatas, photos and reports: until you delete them or your account.
• Downloaded files: deleted from our servers after 7 days (you can download again). A note of what was downloaded and when is kept for 1 year.
• Login records (when and how you logged in): 1 year.
• The other family's details: kept only inside that report and deleted with it.
• Drafts on your phone (without login): cleared after 30 days without changes.
• If you continue without signing up, your biodata is saved to a guest session in this browser. If you don't pay and don't come back for 30 days, it is deleted.
• Payment records: kept as long as tax law requires.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• See and correct your data in your account.
• Withdraw consent: as easy as giving it, from Account → Privacy.
• Delete everything: Account → "Delete my data". We remove it within 7 days.
• Nominate someone to act for you if you are unable to.
• Complain to our Grievance Officer (below). If you are not satisfied, you can approach the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

We only make biodatas for people aged 18 or above.

Security

Your data is stored with access controls so that only you (and family members you invite) can see your biodata. Files are private and shared only through links that expire in minutes.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will tell you and ask again where needed.
