If you live outside India, your biodata is read by families in two worlds. A few small choices make it clear to both.
Use both units
Write height as "5 ft 9 in (175 cm)". Families in India think in feet; many abroad think in centimetres.
Be clear about location and plans
- Country and city where you live and work
- Citizenship or visa status, if you are comfortable sharing
- Whether you plan to stay abroad or return to India
Families plan around these more than anything else, so state them plainly.
Birth details and time zones
If you were born outside India, write the local time and place of birth exactly as on your birth certificate. Kundli calculations use the place's time zone, so don't convert it to Indian time.
Bilingual format
A biodata with English and your family's language side by side works well for NRI families: grandparents can read one, cousins abroad the other.
Contact details
Add a contact in India (often a parent) and one abroad, with the country code. Mention a convenient time to call across time zones.
