The opening line

Most Tamil biodatas begin with the pillaiyar suzhi, உ, and often ஸ்ரீ or the family deity's name beneath it. ஸ்ரீ ராமஜெயம் is also common.

What Tamil families look for

Nakshatram, rasi and lagnam

Tamil families match horoscopes with the 10 poruthams, which start from the nakshatram, and the astrologer also looks at the lagnam and any dosham. Write all three clearly, with padam.

Dosham

செவ்வாய் தோஷம் (chevvai dosham, the Tamil name for manglik) and other doshams are often the deciding line. Write "இல்லை" (none), or the dosham honestly. Families usually prefer to match dosham with dosham.

Family and native place

Tamil families often write the native place (சொந்த ஊர்) even if they have lived in Chennai for generations, along with the family deity. Both help families place each other's customs.

About me, in Tamil

"அமைதியான, அன்பான, குடும்பத்தை நேசிப்பவள். வேலையில் புதியதைக் கற்க விரும்புவேன்; கர்நாடக இசை கற்கிறேன், மார்கழியில் கோலம் போடுவது பிடிக்கும்."

It means: calm, warm and family-loving; she likes learning new things at work, is learning Carnatic music and loves drawing kolam in Margazhi.

Questions families ask

What is the pillaiyar suzhi (உ) at the top of a Tamil biodata?

It is the sacred mark for Ganesha that Tamil families write at the start of any auspicious document. Families also write ஸ்ரீ ராமஜெயம் or their family deity's name.

Why do Tamil biodatas include lagnam and dosham?

Tamil families match horoscopes using the 10 poruthams and look at the full chart, including lagnam (ascendant) and any dosham such as chevvai dosham. Writing them saves the astrologer and both families a step.

Do Tamil families attach a horoscope chart?

Many share the rasi and navamsam chart (jathagam) along with the biodata. The biodata itself carries the key details; the full chart can be sent separately.

Can I make the biodata in Tamil online?

Yes. Choose Tamil as the biodata language and every heading appears in Tamil. You can switch designs any time.
